With the increasing spread of the Internet around the world and throughout most areas of human endeaver, protection of intellectual property is becoming more important.
Many Web pages contain references to words or phrases that are trademarks or registered trademarks. Both Netscape and Internet Explorer support the registered trademark symbol (®), which is implemented in HTML with ®.
IE supports the use of ™ to display a trademark symbol (TM). Unfortunately, Netscape Navigator does not.
To create a simulation of the trademark symbol that works on both browser platforms, use the following bit of HTML code: <SMALL>TM</SMALL>
which results in this display: TM
Another way to display the trademark symbol is to use the decimal code &#153;, which gives this result: ™.
See The Browser Character Set for the complete set of characters.
