Hi all, Those of you who are familiar with the Series 3 know that the pen is probably the most vulnerable part of it! You may also know that the pen unscrews near its point (at the siver grey collar). This gives access to the electronics. The threaded part of the pen at this point is prone to breakage. We can supply a tough nylon sleeve which fits snugly in the pen casing at this position, making this part practically indestructible. It has a hole moulded through it to allow the point to pass through. If you would like one, they are available for £2-00 sterling, but we only have limited number. I don't know how much a new pen is, but I gather they are practically obsolete. |
Hi, correct on the threaded area of the pen being the stress point. I fabricated a plastic nylon sleeve that fits snugly on the inside of the pen that slides in behind the threaded area. It is epoxied in place and forms a rock solid support. I used one of those plastic nylon sleeves that come in packs at Home Depot, what electricians use as a sheath around access holes cut in breaker-panel boxes. They are orange or yellow in color, but you don't see it since it's inside the pen. works great and cheap too.David : Hi all, : Those of you who are familiar with the Series 3 know that the pen is probably the most vulnerable part of it!
