| Just happened to see Duran Duran's latest music video online tonight... Was interested to see what appeared to be a mockup of a sleek, new, aluminum-bodied keyboard Nick was playing, clearly labeled "Fairlight C.M.I." Sitting on top of the right side was what appeared to be an Apple iBook, and on the left was a small, silver-colored Korg controller. While I'm 99% certain this was just a set of props to make the video look good, has there been any talk of a new Fairlight C.M.I. instrument? I've been fascinated with the C.M.I. series ever since I first glimpsed the Series II in Duran Duran's video for "The Reflex." Unfortunately, not having been born into royalty, I can't afford a II or IIx. I'd be thrilled if there were the possibility of Fairlight producing a new musical instrument. Like I said, I'm sure this is just a pipe dream, but it was cool to see Nick playing a "new" Fairlight in that video. If any of you are fans you should check out the clip. | No, it's not a "new" CMI, Fairlight hasn't been making them for a long time. It's just the keyboard of Nick's old Fairlight. However, I don't think he uses his Fairlight anymore. |
